Lili del Sol (CO)
“The artist that stood out for me was Lili del Sol from Colombia. Her voice was appropriately burnished, warm and energizing. She fired the rhythms of her songs with every thrust of her arms, hips and elbows…”
from Songlines Magazine.
From Cali, Colombia, Lili del Sol is a singer, songwriter and producer. Because of her interest in cultural roots and the exuberant atmosphere created when the many different countries of Latin America intertwine, Lili del Sol’s compositions often reflect on social conditions, and the search for roots as a core human need. With contemporary arrangements and different rhythm fusions and sounds from around the world, Lili del Sol presents fresh and unique interpretations and performances of Latin American music.
In 2012, she finished her undergraduate program in Music with an emphasis in Audio Production at Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia. She received the distinction of honors in her final project, which was focused on producing music for children with fresh arrangements, high-quality recordings and, most of all, with lyrics appropriate for child development. She continued working and pursuing her interest in production and technology for the next two years until 2014 when she decided to move forward with her career, joining the Berklee community and completing her first Masters in Music, Technology and Innovation.
In 2015, she was selected for a fellowship at Berklee Valencia, where she worked in the IT department and supporting the concert production team.
In 2016, she started her second Master in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) which gave her a more clear understanding of her position as an artist in the music industry. During this year she had the opportunity to work with experts in the industry such as George Massenburg and Salomé Limón, among others.
Thanks to her experience at Berklee, where she collaborated with musicians from all over the world, she expanded her vision as an artist as well as her role as a producer, rounding out her experience in the different branches and various roles of her profession.
In 2017, she performed at the EXIB Music Festival, in Évora, Portugal, representing her country of Colombia. In May 2018, she will be performing at the “Igraj se z mano” Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Currently, she is in the process of finishing her first album which highlights her experience as a musician and her vision as a Colombian, while performing in Spain.
