Dave Mackay (USA)
Dave Mackay is a British pianist, singer, songwriter and producer, currently based in Los Angeles, California. A diverse performer, he has toured worldwide with his solo show and as an accompanist for several prominent artists including Art
Garfunkel, Grace Weber, Låpsley, Chord Overstreet and Emily Elbert.
In 2013 he released two self-produced instrumental-rock EPs (What We Become and Flood) with his band, Dave Mackay Group. Following tours in the US, UK and Europe, he reimagined the project with vocals and released his debut full-length record (Restart) in 2016. Inspired by the likes of Sting, Esbjörn Svensson Trio and MuteMath, his original work is the meeting point of two distinct, contrasting musical personalities: the intimate world of the piano and the epic sonic landscape of rock music. He has taught masterclasses at music colleges throughout Europe including the Royal Northern College of Music, Jazz Rock Schule Freiburg, International School of Geneva and BIMM Bristol.
In addition to his solo work, Dave has toured as pianist/keyboardist for Art Garfunkel’s “In Close-Up” tour since 2016, performing around the world at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Olympia Theatre, Kennedy Center,
Vienna Konzerthaus and London Palladium. As a music director and band leader, he has directed several large-scale performances, including Boston Rocks, a major fundraising event featuring a 26-piece pop/rock band, which raised over $500,000 for music outreach programs in the Boston community. He has appeared at many of the world’s iconic festivals, including Glastonbury Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, London Jazz Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Warped Tour, Hampton Court Palace Festival and Summit Series.
Dave studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department in London and at Berklee College of Music in the US. He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) and proudly endorses Nord Keyboards.
